I actually watched this with someone who was not affected by A Serbian Film but found the drilling scene in The Loved Ones to be unbearable!

This film is romantic and at times amusing but not on par in terms of gruesomeness or denouement. While your points on structure are well appreciated you overstate the impact of the horror. I would like you to compare this with the film “Feed” and note the ending – which I find has a more satisfactory finale for the abused hero.
